Perplexity supports local MCP in the Mac app. Before you continue, verify that your Perplexity plan allows connectors or MCP; if you do not see the option, you probably need a paid plan.
In the UI, these are the menus: Account settings > Connectors > Add Connector.
Local configuration:
On the Add Connector page, choose the Simple tab.
luminon mcpName the server `luminon`, save the connector, and enable it in Sources.
Perplexity’s official docs say remote MCP is not available yet in Perplexity Desktop, so this guide only covers the local setup.
